MCA Branch Infarction - Case 2

A 69 year-old woman with a dilated cardiomyopathy presented with the acute onset of left sided weakness.

Outline the Infarct

Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA) Branch Infarction: Axial CT scans 3 days after presentation. Note the hypodensity in the distribution of one MCA branch involving the right posterior frontal area. This wedge shaped infarct is the classic picture of an embolic stroke, either from a cardiac or proximal artery embolus.
